INTRODUCTION
Staphylinid beetles are one of the most diverse and numerous groups of beetles that inhabit almost all corners of the planet. They are important components of biological diversity and play an important role in ecosystems [Betz, Koerner, Dettner,
p. 277]. In this work, I will focus on the study of staphylinids that live in the Tyumen region. In our region, many species of beetles have not yet been studied, so my work is of great importance for understanding the biological diversity and nature conservation in this region. Thus, the work will help to expand knowledge about the richness of the fauna of the Tyumen region and provide a basis for further research in this area.
Staphylinids are characterized by a wide range of nutrition and are effective entomophages that can successfully control the number of agricultural pests. However, rove beetles, especially in Russia, require a deeper study [Checklist of the ground-beetles..., p. 271]. Predatory and parasitic species of rove beetles are potentially effective tools for biological control of crop pests [Doganina, p. 117]. For example, in some countries, special breeding of beetles of the genus Atheta is carried out to control pests of vegetable crops.
Compilation of generalizing basic works on the fauna of rove beetles is an extremely important tool for the development of fundamental and applied aspects of the study of the group. This work plays an important role in promoting the knowledge of rove beetles in the Tyumen region and brings the implementation of further research closer.
The goal of the work consists of establishing the species composition as well as studying the distribution and ecology of the fauna of rove beetles in the Tyumen region.
To achieve the above goal, I have to, first, process, generalize, and critically analyse literary data. Then, study and process collection material. I also have to fill the database and compile an annotated list of staphylinid beetles in the Tyumen region. And, at the end, I have to prepare an atlas of typical representatives of the
fauns of rove beetles in the Tyumen region and conduct a general analysis of the distribution and ecology of rove beetles in the Tyumen region.
